Relax Like an Astronaut
If you’ve ever thought about what it would be like to be an astronaut, you probably weren’t thinking about comfort or relaxation. And neither were the scientists at NASA, at least at first. However, technology has developed a lot since we humans started blasting ourselves into space. Now that NASA has gotten a handle space exploration, they’ve had time to think more about the comfort of the astronauts, in addition to their safety. This led to the study of what NASA now calls the Neutral Body Posture or, as you may know it, the Zero Gravity Position. This body posture gained the Zero Gravity nickname because NASA discovered it by observing astronauts as they relaxed in microgravity on Skylab, NASA’s first space station. When NASA scientists saw pictures of the astronauts in microgravity, they noticed that the astronauts’ bodies had automatically assumed a “particular posture with certain angles made by the joints and certain positions assumed by the limbs.”
Zero Gravity Position Created by NASA
Since making this discovery, NASA scientists have done a lot of research into Neutral Body Posture, and they found that the Neutral Body Posture provides an array of health benefits.
Sitting in the Zero Gravity Position has been found to provide support to the spine and pelvis, improve blood flow, and lessen fatigue associated with sitting for long periods of time. And this research has inspired innovations in other, non-space travel products. Nissan, for instance, used NASA’s research to develop more comfortable driver’s seats in their cars. However, while this innovation may have helped drivers, who wants the most comfortable chair they own to be in their car? In fact, who wants their comfort to be limited to a single place, whether it's in their car or in their home? I couldn’t find a poll that specifically addressed that question (go figure), but I’m pretty sure most people would prefer to be comfortable wherever they go. And now, they can be.
Introducing the Zero Gravity Bean Bag, a revolutionary device designed to improve your comfort and health.
Created by Keith Zivalich, the inventor of the weighted blanket, the Zero Gravity Bean Bag may just be the ultimate wellness product. It’s perfect for meditation, which can be uncomfortable for people who aren’t used to sitting in one position for extended periods of time. Take a seat in this bean bag, close your eyes, focus on your breathing, and…oh would you look at that, you’ve been meditating for two hours. Just be careful you don’t relax too much and fall asleep (or do, I’m not really sure if meditation has rules against sleeping).
But hey, maybe meditation isn’t your thing. Maybe you just want to relax while you sip at a drink and stare at the stars (or at the TV). Well, the Zero Gravity Bean Bag is perfect for that too. You can even take your Zero Gravity Bean Bag with you for a relaxing day at the beach. Just find your spot, set up camp, and read a book or just catch some rays in your comfy new bean bag. You might end up with some weird tan lines, but you’ll be too comfortable to care. So treat yourself to this amazing new wellness product because, trust me, you haven’t relaxed until you’ve relaxed like an astronaut.
